The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 92 SUNY Cortland fall sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009 season.
Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. - Sophomore Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) and senior Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) earned all-region honors at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals as the Cortland women's cross country team placed eighth out of 33 teams with 212 points. St. Lawrence won the meet with 43 points. Geneseo (74 points), New York University (138 points), Ithaca (163 points) and Rensselaer (181 points) completed the top five.

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women’s cross country team finished in second place Saturday at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship race in Cortland. Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) was the Red Dragons' top finisher in fifth place with a time of 23:37 in the 6,000-meter race.

SUNY Cortland will be hosting the 2009 SUNYAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31. The women's 6,000-meter race starts at 11 a.m. and the men's 8,000-meter race begins at noon. The course begins and ends on Cortland's back intramural fields, with portions of the races also winding through the neighboring Waterworks.

ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore Katie Poleski (Ossining) was the top Cortland finisher out of four Red Dragon entries at the Cornell University John Reif Memorial Run, held at The Moakley Course. Poleski finished 28th out of 51 runners with a time of 21:21 over a 5,000-meter course. There was no team scoring at the race.

LOCK HAVEN, PA. - The Cortland women's cross country team, ranked 35th nationally in Division III, placed 12th out of 18 teams at the Penn State National on Friday with 374 points. The Red Dragons were competing as the only Division III program at the meet, won by Division I West Virginia with 27 points. The meet was initially announced as canceled due to snow in State College, Pa., but was instead moved at the last minute to Lock Haven University.

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's cross country team, ranked 35th nationally in Division III, claimed five of the top 10 spots to easily capture first place in the first-ever Jack Daniels Invitational on Saturday at Cortland.
Sophomore Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) won the 6,000-meter race in 23:43.12, beating out 40 other competitors for the top spot. Cortland scored 29 points, finishing well ahead of Oneonta (59) and Fredonia St. (93) and Buffalo St. (93).

SUNY Cortland sophomore Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4. Dalton placed 26th in a 337-runner field in the Brown Division of last Friday’s Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. She covered the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 27 seconds.
