The SUNY Cortland women’s golf team was ranked 24th nationally in the final Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division III national poll for the 2009-10 season.

The Red Dragons received 47 points, five ahead of 25th-ranked St. Olaf (Minn.). Cortland's spring season featured a first-place finish in the E8 Spring Invitational, a victory in a quad meet hosted by McDaniel College in South Carolina and dual-match victories over St. Andrews Presbyterian and Hollins.

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland senior Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) earned medalist honors with a two-day score of 162 to lead the Red Dragons to a first-place finish at the two-day Empire 8 Spring Invitational tournament. The opening round of the tournament was held at The Country Club of Ithaca on Saturday and the second round was conducted at the Cortland Country Club on Sunday.

Cortland, ranked 21st nationally in Division III by Golf World and the National Golf Coaches Association, finished with a two-day score of 691. Nazareth was second at 725 and Ithaca placed third at 773.

AMHERST, MASS. – Freshman Ashley Meng (Penfield) recorded an 81 each day and tied for third place out of 60 golfers at the Jack Leaman Championship, hosted by Amherst College. The tournament was held Saturday at the Hickory Ridge Country Club in Amherst, Mass., and Sunday at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass.

Cortland finished sixth out of 11 teams with a two-day score of 692. The Red Dragons were in fourth place after Day 1 with a 342 before scoring a 350 on the second day. Amherst won the team title with a 659, followed by Wellesley (669), Williams (673), St. Lawrence (679), Vassar (688) and Cortland in the top six.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Cortland women’s golf team finished in sixth place out of 11 schools at the two-day Vassar College Invitational, held at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club. The Red Dragons scored a 359 on Saturday and a 345 on Sunday for a total score of 704, three strokes behind fifth-place St. Lawrence.

Amherst College won the title with a 670, followed by Williams (676), Vassar (681), Wellesley (683), St. Lawrence and Cortland in the top six.

ABBOTTSTOWN, PA. – The Cortland women’s golf team finished in fourth place out of seven schools at the two-day McDaniel Spring Invitational, held at The Bridges Golf Club.

Kutztown and McDaniel tied for best scores with 706, with Kutztown winning the title based on a tiebreaker. New York University was third with a 716, followed by Cortland (727), Nazareth (741), St. John Fisher (798) and Franklin & Marshall (874).

PINEHURST, N.C. – Junior Meghan Brunswick (Oneonta) and senior Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) shared medalist honors as nationally 25th-ranked Cortland defeated Hollins University of Virginia, 355-401, in a dual match at the Little River Golf Club. The Red Dragons won two dual matches and a four-team tournament during its spring break trip to North and South Carolina.

VASS, N.C. – The Cortland women’s golf team, ranked 25th in the latest Div. III national poll, continued its spring break trip with a 364-389 dual match victory over St. Andrews Presbyterian College at the Woodlake Resort.

Freshman Ashley Meng (Penfield) earned medalist honors with an 11-over-par 83. Senior Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) finished third with a 91, while freshman Alissa Ryczek (Utica/New Hartford) and junior Meghan Brunswick (Oneonta) tied for sixth with scores of 95.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cortland women’s golf team opened its spring schedule with a first-place finish at the four-team Myrtle Beach Shootout. The tournament was hosted by McDaniel College of Maryland at the Barefoot Golf Resort – Dye Club.

Cortland, ranked 22nd nationally in Div. III, posted a team score of 367 to defeat Vassar College (373) by six strokes. McDaniel finished third at 377 and Denison College of Ohio was fourth at 426.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 92 SUNY Cortland fall sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009 season.

Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

The SUNY Cortland women’s golf team is tied for 22nd place in the final Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division III national poll for the 2009 fall season.

The Red Dragons share the 22nd spot in the poll with Birmingham Southern. Cortland posted runner-up finishes this fall at both the St. Lawrence Invitational and its own Martin/Wallace Invitational, and placed third at the 12-team Williams College Fall Classic.
