The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 156 SUNY Cortland winter and spring sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009-10 season.

Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

03.20 | Men's Swimming and Diving
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Dan Evans (Hamburg) earned honorable mention All-America honors for the second time with a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle during the final day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet was held in conjunction with the women’s championships over four days at the University of Minnesota.

Evans broke his own SUNYAC and school records with a time of 44.98 seconds to win the consolation finals and take ninth place overall. The ninth through 16th-place finishers are honorable mention All-Americans. Evans was 14th in the prelims with a time of 45.22 seconds despite his goggles breaking just prior to the race.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Dan Evans (Hamburg) finished in 22nd place out of 42 swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly during Day 2 of the NCAA Div. III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota.

Evans finished with a school-record time of 50.52 seconds. The previous record was 51.38 seconds by Drew Hilker in 2008. Evans missed a top-16 spot and a berth in the consolation finals by 0.21 seconds. He earned honorable mention All-America honors Friday with his 15th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Dan Evans (Hamburg) earned honorable mention All-America honors with a 15th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle during the first day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day meet is being hosted by Beloit College (Wis.) and the College of Wooster (Ohio) at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center.

Evans qualified for the consolation finals in the event with a preliminary time of 20.77 seconds – the 15th-best effort in a field of 48 swimmers. He was the seventh finisher in the evening’s consolation heat in 20.88 seconds for his 15th-place overall showing.

03.09 | Women's Swimming and Diving, Men's Swimming and Diving
SUNY Cortland men's swimmer Dan Evans (Hamburg) and women's swimmer Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) have qualified to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet will be held March 17-20 at the University of Minnesota, with Beloit College (Wis.) and The College of Wooster (Ohio) serving as co-hosts.

Evans has qualified to compete in both the 50-yard freestyle (March 17) and 100-yard freestyle (March 20). He will also swim in the 100-yard butterfly (March 18) since each qualifier is allowed to swim in three events. Evans enters the competition with the fifth-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (45.22) and is tied for ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (20.64). Houseman has qualified for the 100-yard breaststroke (March 19) and 200-yard breaststroke (March 20), and will also swim in the 200-yard individual medley (March 17). She's seeded sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.09) and 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.78).

The Cortland men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted a "last chance" meet. The Red Dragons had a handful of swimmers and divers compete along with some athletes from Oswego, New Paltz and Potsdam.

02.13 | Men's Swimming and Diving
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Dan Evans (Hamburg) broke a 16-year-old conference record in the 100-yard freestyle and led off the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team that set a school record during Cortland’s final day of competition at the SUNYAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Cortland finished second out of nine teams in the final standings with 685 points. Geneseo won its 12th straight title with 829 points, followed by Cortland, New Paltz (555), Fredonia (328) and Oswego (310) in the top five. Cortland has earned league runner-up honors each of the last five seasons.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Cortland broke an 18-year-old meet record in the 200-yard medley relay, senior Dan Evans (Hamburg) won his 200-yard freestyle and sophomore Dan Drew (Farmington/Victor) set a school record in the 100-yard backstroke during the second day of competition at the SUNYAC Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Red Dragons held on to second place in the nine-team field with one day remaining. Geneseo leads with 530 points, followed by Cortland (458), New Paltz (393), Fredonia (214) and Oswego (198) in the top five.

02.11 | Men's Swimming and Diving
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Dan Evans (Hamburg)set a new conference and school record in the 50-yard freestyle during the opening complete day of competition at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Evans won the event in 20.90 seconds for his second straight title. It was his preliminary time of 20.64 seconds, however, that broke the previous SUNYAC conference and championship meet record of 20.73 seconds set by Geneseo’s Charlie Hake in 2008. Evans also recorded an NCAA “B” cut in the event and eclipsed his own school record of 20.89 seconds established last season.

01.30 | Men's Swimming and Diving
FREDONIA, N.Y. – Senior Matt Young (Schoharie) won two races and led off a winnng relay team as Cortland posted three dual wins in a meet with Hartwick, Oneonta and host Fredonia.

The meet was conducted in an invitational style but was scored as separate duals between the schools. Cortland defeated Fredonia (154-89), Hartwick (129-114) and Oneonta (172-71) and finishes the dual season with a 15-2 record. The 15 dual wins are a new school record, eclipsing the mark of 14 wins set during a 14-0 season by the 1997-98 squad.
