The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 156 SUNY Cortland winter and spring sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009-10 season.

Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

06.21 | Women's Swimming and Diving
Cortland senior swimmer Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) has been selected to the 2010 ESPN the Magazine College Division District I All-Academic At-Large third team.

The team is chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The at-large team covers 13 women’s sports, while CoSIDA’s District I includes Division II and III schools from New York and New England.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) earned All-America honors for the second straight day with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Div. III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota.

Houseman set new SUNYAC and school records with her preliminary time of 2:20.25. She qualified for the championship finals in a field of 32 swimmers. Her time in the finals was 2:20.37. The top eight swimmers competing in the championship finals earn first-team All-America honors, with spots 9-16 recognized as honorable mention All-Americans.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) earned All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Div. III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota.

In Friday’s preliminaries, Houseman qualified for the championship finals with a time of 1:04.87 to break her own school record in the event. The top eight preliminary times in the 36-swimmer field advanced to the championship heat. Houseman was clocked in 1:05.13 in the finals. Houseman entered the 100-yard breaststroke with the 17th-best seed time – a 1:05.78 effort that set a school record at the SUNYAC Championships last month.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – Senior Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) finished in 44th place out of 48 swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley during the first day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day meet is being hosted by Beloit College (Wis.) and the College of Wooster (Ohio) at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Center.

Houseman recorded a time of 2:13.85 in the preliminaries and did not advance to the championship or consolation finals in the event.

03.09 | Women's Swimming and Diving, Men's Swimming and Diving
SUNY Cortland men's swimmer Dan Evans (Hamburg) and women's swimmer Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) have qualified to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet will be held March 17-20 at the University of Minnesota, with Beloit College (Wis.) and The College of Wooster (Ohio) serving as co-hosts.

Evans has qualified to compete in both the 50-yard freestyle (March 17) and 100-yard freestyle (March 20). He will also swim in the 100-yard butterfly (March 18) since each qualifier is allowed to swim in three events. Evans enters the competition with the fifth-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (45.22) and is tied for ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (20.64). Houseman has qualified for the 100-yard breaststroke (March 19) and 200-yard breaststroke (March 20), and will also swim in the 200-yard individual medley (March 17). She's seeded sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.09) and 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.78).

The Cortland men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted a "last chance" meet. The Red Dragons had a handful of swimmers and divers compete along with some athletes from Oswego, New Paltz and Potsdam.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Taylor Houseman (Wellsville) set a conference meet record in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard medley relay team established a new school record during Cortland’s final day of competition at the SUNYAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

Cortland finished in second place out of nine teams with a score of 598. The showing is the Red Dragons’ best since runner-up efforts in both 2007 and 2006. Geneseo captured its third straight league title with 814 points, followed by Cortland, New Paltz (495), Fredonia (473) and Oswego (407) in the top five.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Cortland swimmers set school records in the 200-yard medley relay and the 100-yard breaststroke during the second day of competition at the SUNYAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.

The quartet of senior Krista Bergquist (West Islip), senior Taylor Houseman (Wellsville), sophomore Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) and senior Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) won the 200-yard medley relay with an NCAA “B” cut time of 1:48.11. They broke the school record of 1:50.56 set last year by Bergquist, Houseman, Liz Neddo and Barnoski.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) set a school record with her winning time in the 50-yard freestle and was part of two winning relays, one in a school-record time, during the first complete day of competition at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Cortland is second in the nine-team field after the opening day. Geneseo leads with 246 points, followed by Cortland (188), Fredonia (176), Oswego (130) and New Paltz (128) in the top five.

Barnoski broke the school record and notched an NCAA “B” cut with her winning time of 24.03 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. She held a share of the previous record of 24.14 seconds along with Allie Houseman (2006).
