NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Cortland women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a first-place finish at the four-team Myrtle Beach Shootout. The tournament was hosted by McDaniel College of Maryland at the Barefoot Golf Resort – Dye Club.
Cortland, ranked 22nd nationally in Div. III, posted a team score of 367 to defeat Vassar College (373) by six strokes. McDaniel finished third at 377 and Denison College of Ohio was fourth at 426.
Four Red Dragons placed in the top nine of the 21-golfer field. Senior
Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) finished third with an 87 and junior
Meghan Brunswick (Oneonta) was fourth with a 91. Freshman
Ashley Meng (Penfield) tied for fifth with a 93 and freshman
Alissa Ryczek (Utica/New Hartford) tied for eighth with a 96. Vassar's Celynne Balatbat was tournament medalist with an 84.
