ABBOTTSTOWN, PA. – The Cortland women's golf team finished in fourth place out of seven schools at the two-day McDaniel Spring Invitational, held at The Bridges Golf Club. Kutztown and McDaniel tied for best scores with 706, with Kutztown winning the title based on a tiebreaker. New York University was third with a 716, followed by Cortland (727), Nazareth (741), St. John Fisher (798) and Franklin & Marshall (874).
Cortland held the lead after the first day of competition with a 352, three ahead of NYU, five up on McDaniel and six better than Kutztown. The Red Dragons, however, finished with a 375 on Sunday compared to Kutztown's 348, McDaniel's 349 and NYU's 361.
Freshman
Ashley Meng (Penfield) and junior
Meghan Brunswick (Oneonta) were Cortland's top finishers as part of a three-way tie for 10th place. They each carded an 86 on Saturday and a 92 on Sunday for scores of 178.
Senior
Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) tied for 14th with a 182 (91 each day) and senior
Rebecca Infante (Carmel/Mahopac) was 20th with a 189 (89-100). St. John Fisher's Alex Battle finished first in the 36-golfer field with a 160 (79-81).
