POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Cortland women's golf team finished in sixth place out of 11 schools at the two-day Vassar College Invitational, held at the Dutchess Golf and Country Club. The Red Dragons scored a 359 on Saturday and a 345 on Sunday for a total score of 704, three strokes behind fifth-place St. Lawrence. Amherst College won the title with a 670, followed by Williams (676), Vassar (681), Wellesley (683), St. Lawrence and Cortland in the top six.

Junior Meghan Brunswick (Oneonta) was Cortland's top finisher. She tied for ninth place with a combined score of 170 that featured an 82 on Saturday. She was tied for third place after the opening day. Freshman Ashley Meng (Penfield) tied for 12th place with a 171 (89-82) and senior Rebecca Infante (Carmel/Mahopac) tied for 30th place in the 61-golfer field with a 181. Infante's 81 on Sunday was the fourth-best score of the day.

Senior Raz Taylert (Ithaca/Charles O. Dickerson) rounded out Cortland's scorers with a 182 (88-94) to tie for 32nd place. Freshman Alissa Ryczek (Utica/New Hartford) placed 55th with a 208 (108-100).

Vassar's Celynne Balatbat earned tournament medalist honors with a 160. She led after the opening round with a 78 and posted an 82 on Sunday to defeat Victoria Student of Williams by three strokes.
