Adam Dimino homered for the second straight game and finished 3-for-4 with a walk and two RBI
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior Donald Reese (Shippensburg, PA/Big Spring) went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI as Keystone College defeated nationally 22nd-ranked SUNY Cortland, 9-6, in a non-league matchup. The Giants, who are among the “also receiving votes” portion of the D3baseball.com poll, are now 11-5. The Red Dragons had a seven-game winning streak snapped and are 15-6.
Senior Angel Fargas (Rio Grande, PR/Puerto Rico Baseball Academy) finished 3-for-5 with an RBI, junior Andy Vega (Santiago, DR/Benjamin N. Cardozo (NY)) was 2-for-3 with a double, walk and an RBI and senior Ryan Smyth (River Edge, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) was 2-for-5 with two RBI for Keystone.
For Cortland, senior

Jason Simone (Utica/Thomas R. Proctor) was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Senior
Steve Nickel (Lake Ronkonkoma/Sachem North) finished 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.
Jeff Frost (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Boro) earned the win to even his season record at 2-2. He allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, over five innings. He struck out three and walked four. Brian Stern (Carlisle, PA/Big Spring) tossed three innings of two-hit ball, allowing one run and two walks while striking out one.
Junior
Mike Assmann (Auburn) suffered the loss and is 4-2 this season. He gave up eight runs, six earned, on 11 hits in four and a third innings. Freshman
Rich Morris (Milton/Marlboro) tossed three hitless and scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts and one walk.
Cortland took a 2-0 lead in the first on a Simone RBI double and a Dimino RBI single. Keystone knotted the game in the second on a Reese two-run single, but Cortland regained the lead in the bottom of the second when
Justin Fredenburg (Saugerties) drew a one-out walk and eventually scored on a passed ball.
The Giants grabbed the lead for good in the fourth on a Reese two-run homer to right and added four runs in the fifth. The big hits in that inning were a Smyth two-run single and a Vega RBI double. Cortland picked up a run on Dimino's solo homer in the fifth and another in the seventh on a two-out Simone RBI double.
Keystone picked up a run in the ninth when Eric Groff (Lebanon, PA/Northern Lebanon) led off with a walk, stole second and scored on a Fargas single. Cortland mounted a rally that eventually put the tying runs on base in the bottom of the ninth.
Kris Gentzke (Clarence Center/Clarence) walked with one out and eventually scored on a Simone two-out single. Dimino walked and
Andersen Gardner (Fairport) was hit by a pitch to load the bases, but Keystone reliever Victor Lara (Miami, FL/Coral Gables), who started the inning, struck out the next batter to end the game.
