Cortland's 1975 Men's Lacrosse NCAA Title Team Honored in Baltimore

Cortland's 1975 NCAA Div. II Championship Men's Lacrosse Team was honored during a ceremony at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, May 29, as part of the NCAA's new program to celebrate past NCAA title-winning teams.

As part of the ceremony, a short video produced by the NCAA was played at the stadium. Some of the images in the video were provided by the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association and sports information department.

Cortland won the 1975 NCAA Div. II tournament with wins over Maryland-Baltimore County (9-8 in overtime), Washington (Md.) (16-6) and Hobart (12-11). The victory over Hobart avenged an 18-11 loss to the Statesmen during the regular season.

The SUNY Cortland Alumni Association also recognized members of Cortland's 1973 USILA championship team during a pre-game tailgate in Baltimore. That team was not officially honored by the NCAA since the NCAA did not start officially start sponsoring a "small-school" Div. II championship tournament until 1974.
