Sarah Nadrowski Wins All-Around National Title; Red Dragons Finish Third as Team

Sarah Nadrowski won the all-around title and Courtney Mangini finished sixth - both earned All-America honors in the all-around for the third straight season
WHITEWATER, WIS. – Cortland senior Sarah Nadrowski (Buffalo/Kenmore East) won the national title in the all-around during Day 1 of the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Cortland finished in third place out of six teams at the championship. Wisconsin-Whitewater, which tied for first last season, won the title outright this season with a score of 189.75. Wisconsin-La Crosse placed second (186.575), followed by Cortland (185.90), Brockport (185.30), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (184.55) and Ursinus (181.325). The Red Dragons third-place finish is their best showing since finishing third in 2008.

Nadrowski won the all-around with a combined score of 38.10. She is Cortland's first all-around national champion since Lindsey Marranca won the crown in 2003. Nadrowski recorded a 9.125 on uneven bars, a 9.525 on balance beam, a 9.65 on floor exercise and concluded the night with a 9.80 on vault.

Nadrowski and junior Courtney Mangini (Commack) each earned All-America honors in the all-around with top-10 finishes. Mangini finished in sixth place with a 37.40. Both Nadrowski and Mangini are all-around All-Americans for the third straight season.

Cortland earned eight spots in Saturday's individual event finals. Friday's top 14 finishers, plus ties, in each individual event will compete for national titles. Friday's scores do not carry over into Saturday's competition.

Nadrowski qualified for three individual event finals. She recorded the top score on vault (9.80), tied for fourth on floor exercise (9.65) and tied for ninth on balance beam (9.525). Freshman Emily Nagy (Merrimack, NH) moved into Saturday's finals on balance beam with a 9.55 (tied for fifth) and uneven bars with a 9.50 (eighth).

Mangini posted Friday's top score on floor exercise with a 9.80. Also competing Saturday will be senior Annelise Hoffman (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) on vault with a 9.625 (tied for seventh) and junior Stephanie Sladky (East Islip) on floor exercise with a 9.60 (tied for eighth).
