Former Red Dragon All-American Nick Marcantonio '15 Wins Musselman Triathlon

Former Cortland All-America distance runner Nick Marcantonio '15 finished first at the 15th Annual Musselman Triathlon in Geneva, N.Y., on Sunday, July 15. The multi-sport event, which has been cited as among the best in the world by Triathlete Magazine and other regarded publications, consisted of a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride, and a 13.1-mile run, and featured competitors from across the country and Canada.

Marcantonio, a Glens Falls, N.Y. native, posted a winning time of 4 hours, 6 minutes, 53 seconds. He narrowly missed the event record of 4:04:47.

Nick was a three-time NCAA Division III cross country All-American for the Red Dragons with 23rd-place national finishes in 2012, 2013 and 2014. He also won SUNYAC cross country crowns in 2013 and 2014 and was the 2013 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year and the NCAA Atlantic Regional champion. He also qualified for the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 10,000 meters and narrowly missed All-America honors with a ninth-place national finish.

This past March, Nick qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships, which will be held Sept. 2 in South Africa.

Nick is coached by Kevin Crossman '98, a former Cortland All-America swimmer who has been a highly successful triathlete and coach. Crossman is currently a physical education teacher and varsity swim coach at Glens Falls High School.
