Sophomore Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) will compete in the pole vault Friday at 10 a.m. Senior Justin Wager (Guilderland) will compete in the mile run preliminaries Friday at 4 p.m., with the finals set for Saturday at 2 p.m. Junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) runs in the preliminaries of the 400 meters Friday at 5:05 p.m., with the finals Saturday at 2:55 p.m. Bisceglia enters the meet with the top time in the nation this season at 48.64 seconds. Freshman Dash Ellis (Tomkins Cove/North Rockland) will compete in the triple jump Saturday at 3 p.m.

The meet will be held March 17-20 at the University of Minnesota, with Beloit College (Wis.) and The College of Wooster (Ohio) serving as co-hosts.

Evans has qualified to compete in both the 50-yard freestyle (March 17) and 100-yard freestyle (March 20). He will also swim in the 100-yard butterfly (March 18) since each qualifier is allowed to swim in three events. Evans enters the competition with the fifth-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (45.22) and is tied for ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (20.64). Houseman has qualified for the 100-yard breaststroke (March 19) and 200-yard breaststroke (March 20), and will also swim in the 200-yard individual medley (March 17). She's seeded sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.09) and 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.78).

III Wrestling Championships. Senior Martino Sottile (Brentwood) dropped a pair of bouts but still finished eighth at 197 pounds. Both Sterling and Sottile earned All-America honors with their finishes.

Cortland finished in 22nd place in the final team standings with 18.5 points. The Red Dragons have placed in the top 25 nationally eight times in the last nine seasons.

Sottile, at 197 pounds, and Sterling, at 133 pounds, won their opening matches before losing in the quarterfinals. They then won their first match in the consolation bracket to clinch a top-eight finish and All-America recognition. Each wrestler can finish as high as third place when the competition resumes Saturday.

The CSL is Canada&rsquo;s only professional soccer league and consists of 13 teams, each of which will play a 24-game schedule beginning in May. 

Jurcic has played two seasons for Hamilton Croatia when the squad was a member of the Ontario Soccer League (OSL). Due to the success of the club, the team&rsquo;s status has been elevated from the OSL to the CSL as one of three new clubs for the 2010 season. The list of finalists was announced by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va., which is responsible for the initial review of annual nominations.

The Jostens Trophy is a national award that honors the most outstanding men&rsquo;s and women&rsquo;s Division III basketball players of the year. The award takes into account three vital components: basketball ability, academic prowess and community service. This year&rsquo;s class marks the 13th year the award has been presented. Game time is 8 p.m.

The other first-round game at Rochester Friday features William Paterson University of New Jersey (25-2) and Mary Washington University of Virginia (21-5) at 6 p.m.. Friday&rsquo;s winners will play Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at Rochester, with that winner advancing to the tournament&rsquo;s &ldquo;sweet 16.&rdquo;

Marshall led Cortland this season with 13 points, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. He also ranked third on the team with 5.2 rebounds per contest.
