Cortland junior Ryan Cory (Beacon) and senior Mitchell Makowski (Webster/Webster Thomas) have been selected as the PrestoSports State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week ending March 27. 
 
Cory finished first out of 76 runners in the 5,000-meter run at the Susquehanna University Jim Taylor Invitational. His time of 14:57.08 currently ranks first in the SUNYAC and second in the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC). 
 
Makowski finished second out of 39 competitors in the hammer throw at Susquehanna with a career-best distance of 51.86 meters (170' 2") that ranks sixth nationally in Division III. Makowski also placed 10th of 37 in the shot put at 12.94 meters (42' 5.5") and 17th of 43 in the discus at 34.55 meters (113' 4"). 
 
Cortland returns to action next weekend with competitors at both the Widener (Pa.) Danny Curran Invitational Friday and Saturday and the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday.
