Cortland sophomore
Dylan Beers (Woodbury/Monroe-Woodbury) has been honored as the NCAA Division III Baseball National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the week ending March 26.
In addition, Beers has earned a spot on the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week. The team consists of the top players for the week, by position, among all Division III schools. Beers was one of three starting pitchers selected to the team.
Beers threw a no-hitter as Cortland defeated visiting Oswego, 10-0, in the opening game of a SUNYAC doubleheader Friday. He struck out 12 batters in the game, which was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule, and he missed a perfect game by just one batter when he issued a walk with one out in the sixth inning. The no-hitter is the 21st in Cortland's program history and the first since 2018.
Beers has made four appearances this year, three as a starter. He's 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA and has allowed just seven hits and four walks with 20 strikeouts in 15 innings.
Cortland (12-7, 3-0 SUNYAC) is scheduled to host New Paltz in a three-game SUNYAC series Friday and Saturday, although the weather forecast for the weekend may alter that schedule.
