Senior softball pitcher Karlee Weeden (Maybrook/Valley Central) and firstyear men's outdoor track and field thrower Isaiah Brunache (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 30.

Karlee tossed a pair of shutouts in Cortland home victories. She threw a two-hitter with two strikeouts and one walk in a five-inning, 10-0 win over SUNYAC co-leader Buffalo State on Thursday, and on Friday she recorded a five-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks in a 5-0 victory versus Fredonia.

Isaiah Brunache

Isaiah broke a 40-year-old school record in the shot put with his second-place distance of 16.59 meters (54' 5.25") at the Cortland CNY College Challenge on Tuesday. He currently ranks eighth nationally in Division III. He also placed fourth in the discus at 45.39 meters (148' 11"). On Saturday, Brunache was third of 55 in the shot put (15.38 meters/50' 5.5") and sixth of 52 in the discus (44.90 meters/147' 4") at the Shippensburg Paul Kaiser Classic.
