Chris Bonacci and Luis Misla Earn SUNYAC Baseball Weekly Honors

Cortland senior outfielder Chris Bonacci (Syracuse/West Genesee) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Athlete of the Week and senior Luis Misla (Tampa, FL/Riverview) has been named the SUNYAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 2.
 
Bonacci batted .538 (7-for-13) with three doubles, a triple, a walk, four RBI, four runs and two steals as Cortland went 3-0 at Shenandoah's Mr. V. Memorial Tournament. He finished 2-for-2 with a walk, two steals, two RBI and two runs in a 17-5 win over Immaculata on Saturday. On Sunday, he was 2-for-5 with two RBI in a 5-0 win over Wittenberg and went 3-for-6 with a triple, two RBI in a 15-6 win over Shenandoah. Bonacci finished the weekend with a .923 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage.
 
Misla tossed five and a third scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks and striking out 10 batters, in the Red Dragons' 5-0 win versus Wittenberg. The Tigers entered the game having scored 44 runs over their first five games.
 
Cortland (5-2) is ranked 15th nationally by D3baseball.com and 19th by the ABCA. The Red Dragons will travel to third-ranked Johns Hopkins for a doubleheader Saturday and then to Rutgers-Camden for a single game Sunday.
