Luis Misla (Tampa, FL/Riverview) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 30.
Misla tossed a four-hit shutout with one walk and a career-high 16 strikeouts in a 6-0 win over visiting New Paltz last Friday. He's the fifth player in program history to strike out at least 16 batters in a game and finished one strikeout short of the school single-game record of 17 strikeouts.
In six starts this season, Misla is 4-2 with a 1.07 ERA. He's allowed 25 hits and 10 walks and has struck out 46 batters in 33 and two thirds innings.
Cortland improved to 11-10 with a win Tuesday versus Clarkson. The Red Dragons will host Fredonia in a three-game SUNYAC series, with a single game Thursday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader Friday at noon. The series was originally scheduled to be played at Fredonia Friday and Saturday. In addition, Cortland will host New Paltz Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in a make-up of a game rained out last Saturday.
