Freshman women's golfer Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) and senior baseball pitcher Luis Misla (Tampa, FL/Riverview) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 27.

Gina Milazzo

Gina finished in second place out of 52 golfers at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Championship, helping Cortland win the team title and earn an NCAA automatic berth. She finished with a two-over-par 37 on Saturday, which was shortened to nine holes due to the weather, and posted an 82 on Sunday for a total score of 119, two strokes off the lead. As the top first-year finisher, Gina was named the NWGC Rookie of the Year.

Luis Misla

Luis set a Cortland school record with 19 strikeouts in the Red Dragons' 5-1 win at Plattsburgh on Friday. He broke the previous school mark of 17 strikeouts and has now struck out 10 or more batters six times this season. Misla took a no-hitter two outs into the ninth inning before allowing three singles. He escaped the jam to earn his eighth win of the season. The only run he allowed was unearned without a hit in the fifth inning.
