Cortland graduate student Nick Hanson (Ladera Ranch, CA/Aliso Niguel) has been selected to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for the week ending May 4. The team consists of the top players for the week, by position, among all Division III schools. Hanson was the lone relief pitcher chosen.
 
Hanson earned his second save of the season after pitching the final three and two thirds innings in a 9-4 win over New Paltz on April 29 - a crucial victory for the Red Dragons that helped lead to the team clinching the SUNYAC regular-season title later in the week. He entered in the top of the sixth with Cortland holding on to a 4-3 lead and gave up just one unearned run on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks the rest of the way.
 
Through Cortland's SUNYAC tournament first-round game on May 8, Hanson has made 13 appearances and has a 3.24 ERA and two saves. He has struck out 49 batters and allowed 23 hits in 25 innings.
 
Cortland (27-11) opened the SUNYAC tournament with a win over Oneonta. The Red Dragons will face Oswego in a winner's bracket game of the four-team, double-elimination tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. in Cortland.
