The 2024-25 SUNY Cortland C-Club Rookie Athlete of the Year winners have been announced. Golfer Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) has been named the Women's Sports Rookie of the Year and baseball second baseman/pitcher Talon Elkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) is the Men's Sports Rookie of the Year.

The finalists were announced for each of the awards in early May, but the winners were not chosen until the entire spring season was completed.

WOMEN'S ROOKIE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR:  Gina Milazzo, Golf

Season Stats/Honors:
* Northeast Women's Golf Conference Rookie of the Year
* First Team All-Northeast Women's Golf Conference (2nd place)
* Tied school single-round record with a 71 at the Ithaca Invitational
* Eight rounds of 79 or better


​MEN'S ROOKIE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR:  Talon Elkins, Baseball (Second Base/Pitcher)

Season Stats/Honors:
* 37 games played
* .385 batting average, 5 doubles, 11 RBI, 38 runs scored, 15 walks, .472 on-base percentage, 3 stolen bases
* First on team in batting average and on-base percentage (min. 50 AB), second in runs
* 5 pitching appearances, 3.68 ERA, 7.1 innings, 4 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts
* Had a 25-game hitting streak, the second-longest in program history
* SUNYAC Co-Rookie of the Year
* SUNYAC All-Tournament Team
