Katie Mahoney Named SUNYAC Women's Hockey Player of the Year; Six Red Dragons on All-League Teams

Cortland junior forward Katie Mahoney (Toronto, ON/Toronto Leaside Junior) has been named the 2025-26 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Hockey Player of the Year, as the conference unveiled its all-conference teams and major award winners on Friday afternoon.

A total of six Red Dragons earned all-conference awards. Mahoney and junior defenseman Carlen Bertrand (Timmins, ON/MCLA) were Cortland's two first-team honorees, while senior forward Fanny Aneborn (Linkoping, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden), junior forward Kira Cook (Lake Ronkonkoma/Northwood School), and senior defenseman Ainsley Delacourt (Stoney Creek, ON/Brampton Canadettes U22AA) were named to the second team. Freshman goaltender Eline Gillodes (La Saulce, France/Kents Hill) was chosen to the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team.

Mahoney is the first player in program history to be named the conference Player of the Year, and is being recognized by the conference on an all-league team for the second time in her career, after also being named to the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team as a freshman in 2023-24. The junior has skated in all 26 games thus far, leading the conference in scoring with 29 points on 11 goals and 18 assists, while her 1.12 points per game rank 35th in the nation. Mahoney also leads the conference with 288 faceoff wins on 467 attempts for a winning percentage of 61.7% at the faceoff dot. She registered at least one point in 16-of-26 games, with multiple points in 10 games, and had a 10-game point streak to begin the 2026 calendar year.

Bertrand earns her first all-conference nod in her first season for the Red Dragons. The junior has played in 24 games for Cortland, registering 18 points on six goals and 12 assists to rank second in the conference in scoring among defensemen, while helping the Cortland defense post four shutouts and a 1.70 goals-against average. Bertrand registered at least one point in 13 games for the season, including in 11-of-14 games played so far this calendar year.

Aneborn earns the third all-league award of her career, earning recognition on the NEWHL All-Rookie Team as a freshman and as a second team all-conference selection last year as well. The senior has played in all 26 games, registering 22 points on 11 goals and 11 assists, and has at least one point in 15-of-26 games. She also has two game-winning goals, and tallied a hat trick in Cortland's 4-1 victory over Potsdam in the first round of the SUNYAC tournament on Wednesday.

Cook is honored by the conference for the second straight season, being named to the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team in her first season of collegiate competition last year. The junior leads Cortland with 13 goals in 26 games played, and has added three assists for 16 points on the season. Cook has at least one point in 11-of-26 games, and leads the SUNYAC, while ranking sixth nationally, with six power-play goals. She also has two game-winning goals and has won 111-of-199 faceoffs for a winning percentage of 55.8% at the faceoff dot.

Delacourt earns all-conference honors for the third season in her career, being named the NEWHL Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2022-23, the SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, and two previous first team all-conference awards. She has skated in all 26 games, providing 15 points on three goals and 12 assists, while serving as a key member of the Cortland's defense that has a 1.70 goals-against average and four shutouts. Delacourt also has at least one point in 13-of-26 games for the Red Dragons.

Gillodes has started every game in goal for Cortland during her debut season. The freshman has posted a 14-7-4 record, a .929 save percentage, a 1.67 goals-against average, and four shutouts. Her four shutouts are also ranked 14th in the country and her goals-against average is 24th nationally. She has allowed two goals or fewer in 19-of-26 games, and has made 20 saves in a game 16 times, including a career-high 34 saves against Canton.

Cortland enters the semifinals of the SUNYAC tournament this weekend with a 15-7-4 record. The Red Dragons were the third seed in the conference standing, and won 4-1 over Potsdam in the first round of the conference tournament. Cortland heads to Oswego on Saturday for a 3 p.m. puck drop with a trip to the conference championship game on the line.
