Gianna Endieveri (Glens Falls) have been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 5.
Smith earns Athlete of the Week honors after recording two hits in each of Cortland's four road victories to open SUNYAC play. She batted .533 (8-for-15) with three doubles, a walk, two stolen bases, four RBI, a .588 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage. Smith went 2-for-3 with two runs and two steals in a 9-0 win at Potsdam and followed with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, RBI and two runs in a 9-2 victory. At Plattsburgh, she recorded two hits in each game, including two doubles, three runs and three RBI's across the doubleheader sweep. On the season, Smith is batting .365 and is third on the team with 19 hits.
Endieveri earns Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing 11 scoreless innings across two road victories. She allowed just four hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters. Endieveri opened with a six-inning complete-game shutout at Potsdam, allowing three hits with six strikeouts, and followed with five scoreless innings at Plattsburgh, surrendering just one hit while striking out five. On the season, Endieveri has a 5-2 record and 3.18 ERA. She ranks second in the SUNYAC in wins and leads the conference with two saves.
Cortland (12-5, 4-0 SUNYAC) will be back in action this Wednesday, hosting a non-league doubleheader against RPI. They will also host SUNYAC doubleheaders this Friday and Saturday against Oneonta and New Paltz.
