Seven Cortland Baseball Players Earn All-Region Honors

Seven members of the Cortland baseball team have earned All-Region 3 honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) or the website D3baseball.com for the 2025 season. Six Red Dragons made the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Team and six were selected to the D3baseball.com team.

Miller started 13 games this season and went 4-1 with a 2.88 ERA. Miller allowed only 32 hits in 59 and a third innings and he struck out 72 batters. He allowed one hit and struck out 12 in seven innings in a no-decision at Oneonta, fanned eight hitters and allowed two hits and two runs in six innings in a no-decision at World Series qualifier Johns Hopkins, and allowed three hits and two runs over five innings in a no-decision at nationally top-ranked and World Series qualifier Denison.
 
Elkins played in 42 games, 40 as a starter, and batted .418 with seven doubles, a triple, two homers, 18 walks, 43 runs and four steals. He struck out only five times in 146 at-bats, and he committed only two errors in 128 chances for a .984 fielding percentage. Elkins was also 3-1 as a pitcher with 39 hits and nine walks allowed and 19 strikeouts in 32 innings. Elkins drove in five runs in a win over Marietta and recorded three or more hits on nine occasions.
 
Granger started all 43 games during the season and batted .396 with seven homers, six doubles, 31 RBI, 48 runs scored, 44 walks, nine steals and a .548 on-base percentage. He also handled 119 chances in the outfield (116 putouts, three assists) without an error. Granger posted 17 multi-hit games, and he reached base safely in his final 29 games. He was 4-for-4 with two homers in a SUNYAC playoff win versus Oneonta.
 
Smith batted .336 with five homers and shared the team lead with 47 RBI despite playing in only 33 games, 31 as a starter, due to a mid-season injury. He led the Red Dragons with 14 doubles and finished with 32 runs and 28 walks. Smith drove in two or more runs 13 times and at one point in the season had a team-best 13-game hitting streak.
 
Gatchalian started in all 43 games and led Cortland with a .430 batting average, eight homers and 47 RBI. He also totaled 11 doubles and a triple, shared the team lead with 48 runs scored, and registered 33 walks and 20 hit by pitches for a .562 on-base percentage. He posted 20 multi-hit games, and at one point in the season he reached base safely in 30 straight games. Gatchalian finished the season on a 12-game hitting streak, and he committed just two errors in 232 chances for a .991 fielding percentage.
 
McLaughlin pitched in 14 games, five as a starter, and ended the season with an 8-2 record, one save and a 3.05 ERA. He allowed 32 hits and 18 walks and struck out 38 batters in 44 and a third innings pitched. McLaughlin allowed five hits in six shutout innings in a win over Kalamazoo in the NCAA Division III tournament, and he gave up one run and struck out six in five innings of two-hit relief to earn a win at Berry.
 
Yovino saw time primarily as a pitcher and catcher during the season. In 30 games, 19 as a starter, he batted .465 (20-of-43) with two homers, 16 RBI and 10 runs scored, finishing the season with a .545 on-base percentage. On the mound, Yovino pitched in 10 games, two as a starter, and went 2-2 with two saves. He allowed 20 hits and struck out 19 batters in 22 and a third innings. He tossed four shutout innings in a win over Rochester and picked up saves versus RPI and Fredonia.
 
Cortland finished the season with a 30-12-1 record, including a 15-1 mark to win the SUNYAC regular-season title. The Red Dragons repeated as SUNYAC tournament champion and extended their Division III record to 33 straight NCAA tournament appearances. Cortland finished 1-2 in a regional hosted by Denison University in Granville, Ohio, to tie for 33rd place nationally.
