Cortland Men's Soccer has announced the promotion of
Andrew Taylor to the program's top assistant coach role for the upcoming 2026 season. Taylor had previously served as goalkeepers coach for the Red Dragons' men's and women's soccer teams during the 2025 season.
In 2025, the Cortland men's soccer team advanced to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Division III tournament to finish in a tie for ninth place nationally, backed by strong goalkeeping that ranked in the top 10 in the country in save percentage (2nd - .892), shutout percentage (4th - .619), and goals-against average (6th - 0.51). Jordan Ott also garnered United Soccer Coaches All-America honors and was chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Player of the Year. The Red Dragons won the SUNYAC regular-season title and finished the year with a 14-1-6 overall record.
On the women's side, Cortland claimed both the SUNYAC regular-season and tournament titles and finished with a 14-3-4 overall record. The Red Dragons posted a school-record 14 consecutive shutouts during the year, amassing more than 1,300 minutes of game action without conceding a goal. Olivia Rouse was a United Soccer Coaches all-region selection and a first team All-SUNYAC honoree.
Taylor joined Cortland after completing a standout career as a goalkeeper at SUNY Brockport in 2024. In four seasons on the field for the Golden Eagles, Taylor started 65 games and posted a 30-17-16 record, a 1.02 goals-against average, .800 save percentage, and 22 shutouts. Taylor also was named the SUNYAC Fred Holloway Co-Defensive Player of the Year and earned first team All-SUNYAC honors in 2023, and was a second team all-conference selection in 2022.
Taylor also garnered SUNYAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors for men's soccer in 2023-24.
