Cortland men's basketball head coach Maurice Kearney has been honored as the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) Division III Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 season.
 
The award caps off an impressive list of honors for Kearney. He was also chosen as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 3 Coach of the Year and the D3hoops.com Region 3 Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, and he and his assistants were chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Kearney led Cortland to a 24-5 record, tying the school record for single-season victories. The Red Dragons won their first SUNYAC regular-season title since the 2012-13 season with a 17-1 conference mark, and Cortland repeated as the SUNYAC tournament champion for the program's first-ever back-to-back league crowns. Cortland advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament to tie for 17th place nationally.
