Cortland sophomore forward Gianna Cirilla (Pattersonville/Schalmont) has been named the Spry State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 13.

Cirilla had a four-point performance with a goal and two assist for Cortland in a 3-1 upset victory over nationally 23rd-ranked Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday evening. She assisted on each of the Red Dragons' first two goals in the first half and then later provided a crucial insurance goal with under 10 minutes remaining to secure the victory.

In four starts this fall, Cirilla leads Cortland with three goals and shares the team lead with two assists for a team-best eight points.

Cortland (3-1) will host nationally ranked Rochester Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Yellowjackets (4-0) were ranked 19th in the preseason and are expected to remain in the new national rankings that come out later Tuesday.
