Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) and freshman
Chloe Tice (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) have been named the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Sept. 13. The league awards covered the opening two weeks of the season.
Milazzo and Tice tied for eighth place in the 40-golfer field at the St. Lawrence Fall Invitational Sept. 5-6. Milazzo carded a one-over par 73 in the first round on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday for a 151 on the par-72, 5,830-yard Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course. Her Saturday round of 73 included an eagle on the 508-yard, par-5 11th hole along with one birdie and 12 pars, and she recorded 13 pars on Sunday. Tice posted a 75 on the opening day and a 76 on the second day for a 151 on the par-72, 5,830-yard Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course. Tice registered three birdies in each of her rounds.
Milazzo and Tice helped Cortland finish with a final team score of 635 (315-320). The 635 is the fifth-best two-day team score in school history, while the 315 on Saturday is sixth on the school charts.
