Junior women's cross country runner Phoebe Peer (Saranac Lake) and junior football quarterback Mike Rescigno (Arlington) have been named the SUNY Cortland Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 20.

Phoebe Peer

Phoebe finished in ninth place out of 212 runners at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational. She covered the 6,000-meter course in 22:44.9 and was the fifth-best Division III runner in the race.

Mike Rescigno

Mike ran for a career-high 179 yards on 14 attempts, scoring twice, and completed 14-of-22 passes for 241 yards and two scores in Cortland's 55-3 win over visiting Hartwick. He had touchdown runs of 60 and 44 yards, along with a 30-yard gain. His touchdown passes covered 31 and 19 yards.
