HAGERSTOWN, MD. – Behind three top-six finishes, including an individual title by Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley), the Cortland women's golf team finished first out of seven teams at the Catholic University Cardinal Fall Classic, held Saturday and Sunday at the Black Rock Golf Course.

Cortland posted a team score of 323 each day for a final mark of 646. Marymount of Virginia finished with a 328 each day for a 656, while Stevenson improved from a 348 on Saturday to a 317 Sunday for a final score of 665. Seven teams competed in the tournament.

Milazzo finished with a two-day score of 156 (76-80) and Chloe Tice (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) was the runner-up with a 157 (78-79) in a field of 39 golfers. Marymount's Tinleigh Rusher was third with a 158 (77-81). Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) finished sixth with a 161 (81-80), and Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) tied for 16th with a 172 (88-84) to round out Cortland's top four on the par-72 course.

Milazzo's opening 76 featured two birdies and 10 pars, and she birdied two holes and parred nine Sunday. She recovered from a 42 on the front nine Sunday, including double bogeys on two of the first three holes, and registered a two-over 38 on the back to claim medalist honors.

Tice finished with a birdie and 10 pars during her opening 78, and she had a birdie and 12 pars in her 79 round Sunday. Dumas birdied two holes in her opening round of 81 and recorded three birdies on the way to her 80 on Sunday.

Cortland returns to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Hamilton Fall Invitational, held at the Rome Country Club.
