CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's tennis team posted its second straight shutout as the Red Dragons defeated visiting Farmingdale State, 7-0, in a Monday morning contest at the Cortland Varsity Tennis Courts.
 
Cortland (2-1) started by earning the team doubles point with three victories. Anneli Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Emma Morley (Buchanan/Hendrick Hudson) won 6-2 at third doubles, followed by Christina Massoni (West Babylon) and Gabriella Stanley (Buffalo/Niagara-Wheatfield) with a 6-4 win at first doubles and Reaghan Hughes (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) and Alexandra Thut (Poughquag/Arlington) with a 6-3 victory at second doubles.
 
In single action, Cortland picked up quick points as Adams won 6-1, 6-1 on the fifth flight and Gracie Guiliano (Rome/Notre Dame) won 6-0, 6-1 at sixth singles. The Red Dragons clinched the team victory when Massoni wrapped up a 6-4, 6-1 decision at first singles.
 
Hughes followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at third singles. The other two matches featured splits in the first two sets. At fourth singles, Farmingdale's Emma Johannsen won the first set, 6-3, and Thut won the second set, 6-2. With the team outcome already decided, a super tiebreaker to 10 points was played in place of a third set. Thut rallied from a 7-4 deficit to win the super tiebreaker, 10-8.
 
The match at second singles also went to a super tiebreaker. Farmingdale's Kaelin Burnett won the opening set, 6-3, and Stanley captured the second set, 6-4. Stanley won the super tiebreaker, 10-4, to complete the Red Dragon sweep.
 
Cortland travels to Utica for a non-league match Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
